Difficulty in controlling our emotions in situations that we find difficult is not a good place to be either for ourselves or others who may be important or of value to us. There will always be situations which make us angry but frequently experiencing situations where our emotions are beyond our control can be frightening or even dangerous both for ourselves and others, is not a good or maybe even safe place to be. The term anger management perhaps suggests simply learning ways in which we can keep control of our emotions. However might it not be more positive in the long term if we are able to understand why we so easily loose control and how to recognise the processes or trigger points that can lead to this loss of control. Counselling can provide a safe environment in which to make such an exploration. Then maybe once we begin to understand the root causes of our anger and the possible trigger points, learn that we have within ourselves the ability to express our feelings calmly and safely.
